As with the first Crow series, when she stumbled on a method by which to give a family resemblance and a common parent to a nursery of previously orphaned pictures, she is full of the energy of raw creation with the Kickstarter Make/100 project. Shaking with it, giddy with excitement. It's a culmination of the last chapter of her life as an artist (learning the basics of encaustic, Alicia Tormey's course, the image of Crow) and an inauguration of the next one (being more pirate, blockchain, the studio as an edifice to her own responsibility to her talent as well as a resource for it).
I'm proud of her, and oddly jealous: my boots sink in the sludge of daily life as she dances over it, fleet of foot, glad of heart, clean of hem. What I think about when I think about Sparrow, often, is how to think about me. How to think about me better.
