February 5th 2019

Two evenings now, after a weekend filled with work, where the decks have been cleared enough for there to be a space to dance, I've done some of the things and a lot of the nothings I've wanted to do and it's been lovely. Imagine that as the expectation of life as it arrives, a society free from the need to work to survive. It is something we will do, I confidently believe, if we live long enough.

It will probably be our last vestige of distinction from AI. We'll be different because we can be unproductive but not idle and they can't. Then they'll figure that out and we'll just have to find a way to get along as unequal equals. In the mean time, I forgo idleness for the unproductive activity of thinking about Sparrow, just to prove I'm not a skin-job.
